I’m thrilled to share a few images of my UWTSD Swansea Doctoral Graduation day which took place at the new Swansea Arena, surrounded by my beloved family, and colleagues and friends. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, and these I hope capture the essence of this remarkable day.
I am also deeply moved by the remarkable write-up penned by the inspiring Professor David A. Kirby, my co-founder at HES. David kind and unwavering support has been instrumental in my journey.
As the day drew to a close as I took a walk with my family along the sands and couldn’t help but reflect on the incredible journey that led me to this moment. Every late-night and every challenging submission, and all the joys and lows, and stretch and stress, and all the people I have met. I won’t say it took me until that moment to realise that this day wasn’t just about me— it was a celebration of every person who had played a part in my journey, as it’s the very idea that has carried me through. I did however shed some tears on my Dad not being around in person. He had been there at the beginning, so I have grown accustomed to carrying him in my heart. I therefore embraced all the love and lessons gifted me to walk my chosen path.
I am eternally grateful to my family, friends and colleagues, for their unwavering love and support. Together, they have shown me the power of believing in oneself and never giving up on dreams. This includes my supervisors and to the wonderful Dr Kathryn Penaluna, IICED, who came along to support me on Tuesday. I hope I can do the same for others.
