GEW2020 – the welsh dragons roaring with creative spark

This week excites me. Out of the COVID drama, springs hope eternal, a new thirst and growing energy to create and innovate. This is Global Entrepreneurship Week, the world’s biggest celebration of entrepreneurship. Some space set aside to celebrate and inspire. An opportunity to showcase and reflect on ‘entrepreneurship’ as effective means to guide, inspire, skill, and nurture our current and future problem-solvers and change agents.

Am so excited to discover what all the GEW2020 activity will unleash – new ideas, concepts, collaborations, skills and learning….

Back at my own base, the UWTSD has a cracking mix of programme-led and open events scheduled for #GEW2020. Dafen Primary School, the first global EntreCompEdu Pioneer School has also planned a week full of entrepreneurship activities with a strong sustainability focus. I just can’t wait to dip in and witness our future innovators, entrepreneurs and value creators in full swing aided by our great entrepreneurial educators and support teams.

I will enjoy listening into to the stories, and will personally celebrate the local entrepreneurship that has been unleased even through lockdown. Evidence shows that periods of extreme adversity foster innovation. The pandemic has clearly fuelled the breaking of norms and drawn on creative thinking. I just love the example from Llaeth Beynon Dairy. The Llangennech farm who flipped their fortunes from being forced to pour thousands of gallons down the drain to generating hour long queues for their covid-safe 24 hour vending machine serving up super-fresh milk and milk-shakes! Re-invigorating interest in local produce and bring a smile to many local families.

Not to be left out in the fun… I count down the hours to a ‘reveal’ of a new entrepreneurship initiative …

As thousands tune in ‘I’m a Celebrity 2020’ at this very moment to enjoy its creative repositioning in Wales in response to the covid crises… I say… let the fun begin.

Pob lwc i bawb
Good luck everyone.

Have a fantastic Global Entrepreneurship Week!
