Back in June, I shared a stitched reel of images from our two-day Harmonious Heroes Showcase at Plas Llanelly House — a first glimpse of colour and energy. Now, I’m delighted to share the short celebratory film by Stori Cymru, a crafted glimpse into the Harmonious Heroes journey — not everything can be contained in a few minutes of film, but what it captures is the spirit of a year where schools, businesses, and community voices worked side by side to reimagine learning in Llanelli.

Subtitles available in Welsh.

The journey has been as diverse as it has been inspiring. At St John Lloyd Comprehensive, learners stepped into roles that connected their studies with civic life — reimagining heritage through augmented reality, recycling plastics into new forms, and taking on projects that spoke to justice and compassion as much as creativity. Swiss Valley Primary took a very different path, turning to the soil and water around them, with pupils working out how to sustain their school garden through solar-powered irrigation and sensors they designed themselves. Pentip Primary found its spark in the Sustainable Development Goals, with projects that stretched from microbial experiments to a fashion show built entirely on recycled clothing — playful, inventive, and deeply thought-provoking. And at St Mary’s Primary, pupils welcomed green-skilled professionals into school, asked their own searching questions, and turned those encounters into Green Superhero cards — each one a joyful but profound act of seeing themselves as future changemakers. They even closed the loop with film-making, premiering Treasure School at the Waterfront Museum as the new term began.

What struck people most was the depth and authenticity of the learning. One described it simply as “learning at its best… providing purpose, connection and resilience at a time when so many young people are struggling with their mental health.” Another was moved by the way children spoke with confidence to complete strangers, reflecting that they’d love to see where that early promise might lead in years to come. A business owner noted how well-prepared pupils were, how their Green Superhero cards captured professional insights with creativity and care. A creative industries partner said he left “mentally drained but in the best possible way” after fielding a bombardment of brilliant questions. Others spoke of being “bowled over by the scope and ambition,” and of the pride they felt watching young people step into coaching roles — not just delivering, but lifting others up. And perhaps the simplest reflection came from a local voice: “If this is the future of education, Harmonious Heroes must be congratulated… the enthusiasm, engagement and commitment evident from all schools was visionary, innovative, and fully inclusive.”

The short film is just a glimpse, but together with the voices of pupils, teachers, and community, business and civic partners, it shows what Harmonious Heroes has become: curriculum-connected, community-rooted, and stakeholder-engaged.

Watch, share, and celebrate the young people of Llanelli — our Harmonious Heroes.

Great video capturing all the enthusiasm, excitement and engagement of this pioneering EntreComp project. One of the outstanding features is the engagement with the wider business community. These pupils are Llanelli’s future and, given the opportunity, can build on their Harmonious Heroes experiences. It also illustrates the flexibility of the new Curriculum for Wales to do things differently and build confidence and competencies alongside educational achievement.
