This week I was in Lampeter to welcome a second Maharashtra delegation of the UWTSD Executive Leadership Program aimed at supporting the Global Futures Initiative. This initiative is crucial in developing future leaders who are equipped to tackle global challenges. The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is supporting the development of a longer-term programme to assist its policymakers, legislators, and all those committed to building a sustainable future. This initiative aims to put ideological, religious, or cultural differences aside in search of solutions to serve our common humanity.

The pilot programme, launched last November, was designed to support the aims of the Commonwealth concerning democracy, development, and peace. It has received backing from the Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly and funding from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. I had the pleasure of delivering another workshop on Ethical Leadership with an Entrepreneurial Mindset as part of this programme. Specifically, I focused on framing how to move forward with a new harmonious paradigm into action, from policy to practice.

Key tenets of Harmonious Entrepreneurship were covered, supporting a new ethical approach. This integrates seamlessly with the Well-being of Future Generations Act 2015, which sets the framework for the New Curriculum for Wales and its implications for education and business practices. The holistic development of individuals and communities was also a central theme.

I was blessed by a very respectful and curious group who were eager to question and discuss key issues.

It is a such a privilege to be part of the delivery team and the wider programme which has impact. As Satyajeet Tambe, a participant from the original delegation, reported at the beginning of the year following the November intake, “We are planning to move a private members’ bill in Maharashtra, inspired by Wales’ Well-being of Future Generations Act.” This highlights the tangible impact and progress inspired by the programme.
